CGI Construction in Sausalito, CA | Toolbox Contractors
We’re an independent CGI construction specialist and Sausalito General Contractor, and the short answer is this: we install, repair, and replace CGI windows, doors, and WeatherSeal trim systems across 94965 and 94966, and the thing that sets our CGI work here apart is that we plan every job around Sausalito’s stair-street access and salt-air corrosion before we ever order a single unit. If you need CGI window replacement or impact-rated installation on a hillside home with no driveway, call (855) 382-3257. We’ve been doing this long enough to know that in Sausalito, the logistics are half the job.
Why Sausalito Residents Choose Us for CGI Service
Plenty of contractors can order a window. Fewer know what happens to a CGI ProSeries frame after five years of fog off the Marin Headlands, or why a Woodguard door skin delaminates at the bottom rail on a waterfront cottage. We do, because we’ve been troubleshooting CGI products across Marin County’s steep, damp, salt-exposed terrain for years. Norm Castellano grew up around construction in the Inland Empire and learned the fundamentals at San Bernardino Valley College’s construction technology program before spending nearly two decades framing, roofing, and rebuilding homes. That background in how buildings actually fail is why Sausalito homeowners call us when a previous contractor left them with warped sash tracks or corroded flashing and no clear fix. We’re an independent CGI service provider, not a manufacturer-authorized dealer, so our recommendations come from field experience, not a brand playbook. Tell me what you’ve got and we’ll tell you what it actually needs.
Styles & brands we work with
Common CGI Construction Problems We Solve in Sausalito
- Woodguard Series door skins delaminating at the bottom rail. Constant marine moisture and fog keep thresholds damp much of the year. When drainage at the sill is even slightly off, fiberglass skins start peeling at the bottom rail. We rebuild and re-seal the door when it’s structurally sound, or replace it with a properly flashed unit when it isn’t.
- ProSeries vinyl window frames warping and sticking on south-facing hillside walls. Despite the fog, south-facing exposures in Sausalito get intense sun. Vinyl frames expand unevenly, and suddenly a double-hung won’t close. We realign and lubricate tracks when possible, and swap sashes when the warp is permanent.
- WeatherSeal flashing corrosion and seal failure from salt air off Richardson Bay. Waterfront homes eat exterior metal. Flashing that would last 30 years inland starts pitting and failing in a decade here. We replace corroded sections with marine-grade stainless and re-seal with polyurethane that holds up to salt spray.
- Vinyl window glazing seals failing prematurely on stair-street cottages. Wind-driven rain hits exposed facades hard on the hillside east of Bridgeway. When seals fail, dual-pane units fog. We repair fogged units when the frame is sound, or replace with fresh glazing when it isn’t.
- Threshold and sill rot under CGI door assemblies. Tightly stacked century-old cottages often have minimal roof overhang, so doors take direct weather. We replace rotted sills, rebuild thresholds, and re-flash the opening before installing the new door.
CGI Service in Sausalito: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Sausalito’s hillside stair-streets east of Bridgeway are so steep that many homes have no vehicle access at all. No driveway, no garage, no place to park a truck within a quarter mile. So every CGI window or door replacement we do there starts with a hand-carried materials plan and a staging area on Bridgeway. Lumber, window units, flashing, tools, sealant, everything gets walked up hundreds of steps by hand, conveyor, or cable. That adds days to the job and changes how we spec materials. We choose components that are lighter where possible, pre-cut flashing at the staging area rather than on site, and sequence the work so the crew isn’t hauling something up twice. A flatland contractor quoting a Sausalito hillside job without accounting for this will blow the schedule and the budget. We budget for it from day one because we’ve done it enough times to know there’s no shortcut up Excelsior Lane.
CGI Models & Products We Service in Sausalito
We service CGI’s Woodguard Series exterior doors, ProSeries vinyl windows (double-hung and slider), and WeatherSeal exterior trim and flashing systems. For critical components like door frames and window sashes, we use OEM CGI replacement parts to ensure proper fit and warranty compliance. But we specify high-quality aftermarket hardware – hinges, locks, seals – where it outperforms OEM in Sausalito’s salt-air environment. Marine-grade stainless hinges hold up better than standard OEM hardware on a waterfront home, and we’d rather install the better part than the branded one. We always evaluate repair versus replacement: if a door or window is structurally sound, we can often rebuild and re-seal it with better materials than a new unit would have shipped with. For broader CGI sales & service questions, our team can walk you through the full line.

FAQs – CGI Construction in Sausalito
Yes. We stage materials on Bridgeway and hand-carry everything up the stairs. It’s slower and more labor-intensive than a flatland install, but it’s routine for us. Call (855) 382-3257 for a free estimate that includes the access plan.
Woodguard Series doors hold up well, but the real difference is in the hardware and flashing. We spec marine-grade stainless hinges and through-color flashing that won’t pit in salt air off Richardson Bay. The door matters less than what’s holding it and sealing it. Call (855) 382-3257 and we’ll spec it right.
We coordinate with the geotechnical engineer and the Sausalito building department from the start. Slope stability and drainage are reviewed before we touch the opening, and we don’t cut corners on the shoring or the paperwork. If the job touches slope stability, we plan for the review timeline up front. Call (855) 382-3257 to talk through your lot specifics.
Yes. Fogged dual-pane units are common here from wind-driven rain and seal failure on exposed hillside facades. When the frame is sound, we replace the glazing. When it isn’t, we replace the unit. Same visit, we’ll tell you which one you need. Call (855) 382-3257 for an estimate.
Constant moisture and poor threshold drainage accelerate delamination, which manufacturers sometimes attribute to environmental exposure rather than defect. We document the conditions and the failure mode carefully to support warranty claims, and we rebuild doors when a new unit isn’t the better answer. Call (855) 382-3257 and we’ll assess what you’re dealing with.
